Voting for Write-In Candidates

This year, there are fewer candidates certified for the election than there are open positions. Therefore, write-in candidates will play an important role in the election. When a ballot is received that includes a name written on the “Write-In Candidate” line, a vote is tallied for that candidate just as it would be for a vote cast for a certified candidate (one listed on the ballot). Then, the candidate(s) with the greatest number of votes win the election for the open position(s), regardless of whether the candidate was certified or written-in. If you wish to write-in a candidate on the ballot, first make sure that person wishes to accept the position if they win. NRVotes is including the candidate information for all write-in candidates who notified the Town Clerk prior to April 8 of their intent to participate in the election. If you wish to vote for them, note their names prior to voting as you will need to remember and write the names on the ballot yourself!
